Torn Leather

Day 56/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

His old leather bible

has a tear in the cover

and wrinkles and scratches

like his weathered hands

and I wonder how much

wearing and tearing

it takes to break down a man

to the point where a book

becomes his beginning and end

With his nose to the tablet

always grinding through versus

pointing out sins

and all of God's curses

Through all of his notes on the page

He missed the greatest message

the creator ever gave

Love is what saves
