Out of a list of over 20 poems this past month
You choose my worst one to love
It didn't even rhyme
It was just to get the anger out of my mind
Nothing positive was in it
Nothing creative was about it
It was just venting like I’m doing now
This really made me mad
Y'all know that poem was trash
(*only I can say that about my own work)
My worst top story ever
They're just choosing random
Vocal please do better
No, I’m not ungrateful
I’m very thankful
Love getting cash
But now new readers will think my writing trash

I don't think any of us will ever really know how Vocal curates the top reads but, Emily, your poem is not trash. My best guess is that your raw emotion was the deciding factor.

Do I have to write a smile article for you Emily. I am working on one, it seems you get down without my smile articles, I think it is a good thing you got top story, if nothing else for the five bucks in your wallet.

Emily, this made me laugh out loud 😂😂 It was not trash to me, not at all, but I totally get the sentiment. The frustration you have with better stories not being chosen above it for TS is absolutely valid—I’ve definitely felt the same in the past! Like whay the hell, this one?? It’s very strange sometimes what Vocal chooses for Top Story.
