Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and ...

For Kayleigh Fraser's “One of Us” Unofficial Poetry Challenge

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished about a year ago 1 min read
"If tomorrow starts without me ..."

If tomorrow starts without me

Would anyone really care?

Do you think they would notice?

Hope says yes, fear inside says

No … no one will notice or care

You will be gone, over with, done

*

If tomorrow starts without me

Where would I go? Would I feel regret?

What of those many things unsaid?

Surely ... they weigh a soul down

Those questions of self worth, virtue

Did I do enough? Was I a good person?

*

If tomorrow starts without me

How many tears would fall?

Would some be able to cope?

So many affected by one short life

Leaving them behind feels too hard

One supposes the sun will still rise ...

This is lovely. I'm sure many share those same questions about ourselves. Well done.

  • Yes, that's the thing. Regardless of whether we are here or not, the sun would still rise and life would still go on. Loved your poem!
