Together it's an Ocean, alone it's a Drop

Old stories hold cure

By Maryam BatoolPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Together it's an ocean, alone it's a drop

The bulls didn't learn, so the lion did his job

Too many lies can just destroy

'A wolf, A wolf', now actually said that boy

Help yourself, do it with your hand

The crow quenched his thirst and flew above the land

You all just cry, but you never try

A pail of water- Jack and Jill- brought, without a sigh

Stay steadfast and firm — you'll rise like an ace,

For even the slow tortoise triumphed in the race

Author's note :

I loved how we used to learn all these moral stories. I believe no matter how much we grow, they'll always hold a strong moral for us.

I love the flow and how you used the stories to create a deep inspiring poem.

Oh that first line got me good ‘ together it’s an ocean alone is a drop’ it’s always safer to be together than alone. It is not good for one to be alone, that’s when we hurt and when we break, then it becomes harder for us to trust then the cycle continues from there. ‘A wolf a wolf’ when I repeated it, it sounded like a howl. That’s really cool. ‘You all just cry but you never try’ a smack on the wrist but a kind wake-up call. I do remember jack and Jill This poem was such a lovely read. A beautiful pick me up for when I’m in need. Because of you, now I know, that I will rise like an ace. If I stay steadfast and firm. Keep writing, keep inspiring 👏🏽👌🏽♥️🤗

  • I recognised the boy who cried wolf, the crow, Jack and Jill, and the tortoise and the rabbit. I'm so sorry that I missed this beautiful poem the first time you published it

A nice collection of lines that stir up memories. My mother was great at teaching lessons with parables and moral sayings. Thank you Maryam.

Love the symbolism when thinking of an ocean and a drop. I think of friends joining together, linking arms and they represent the ocean.

I too like Sam remember my mother saying when I made a face, I hope your face doesn't freeze that way. I learned not to make faces in cold weather. Nicely done!!!!!!

Wow! My dear sister, your creativity is truly remarkable. The way you’ve woven together multiple stories into this poem feels like you’ve captured the essence of all those narratives. You’re quite clever!😇 However, I believe we should never crave the first position, especially when we trust in a higher power like God. If we possess talent and capability, it doesn’t matter if we come first, second, or third. To achieve first place, one must engage in competition, and competition breeds jealousy, which leads to sin. That is detrimental. Many lose faith in themselves just because they didn’t come first, failing to recognize their talent and capabilities. You’re well aware of this competition for first place in students' lives and its consequences. Don’t pay too much attention to my words, I was just sitting idle and thought I’d share some wisdom with you. 😄 Make sure to study; you have exams coming up!🧐
