Counting Love, Losing Count

In a Garden of uncertainty; Me and my petals

By Maryam BatoolPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Petal off— another petal

Three words for one and two for the other

"I love you", "I don't"

"I love you", "I don't"

And my flower's at its end

.

Every petal— A new hope

Every sepal—A whimsical

It's not a tale, but my heart’s overflow

Was it nothing or the whisper of a new start?

Another petal; "I love you"

.

My love can't be counted over flowers

For inside I know my heart is yours

What if the spikes cut my skin?

I love the RED, even in blood

Your fragrance blooms within my

Soul

.

I could hear you say, "I'm all yours";

No wonder that sound was a flow of dream

The last flower; A last Rose

The last petal; I lost the count

.

"I love you?" or "I don't?"

A question that would always haunt

Wow, this poem pulled me in completely! With every petal, I felt the heartbeat of love—the chaos, the beauty, the longing. 🌹 That final question? It’s stuck in my mind, haunting and beautiful. I’m in awe of how deeply it resonates. ✨💖

Woah! Such a sweet and whimsical little piece! Counting petals, questioning love, and then surrendering to the chaos of feelings—it’s tender and relatable. Loved the imagery of red, roses, and dreams weaving into something soulful. ✨💖 And the playful disclaimer at the end? Classic!😉

Such a good poem. Love how you turned the normal “He loves Me, He loves Me not” into a decision to choose to love or not to love. Excellent writing.

Ohh! It's the Emotional complexity of love, with its alternating expressions of affection and doubt. Each petal represents hope, and each sepal whimsicality is powerful and evokes both vulnerability and resilience. The line "What if the spikes cut my skin? I love the RED, even in blood! Ufff! That's depth and also has a great sense 😃
