Today,

I realized

I would never make my mother proud

My decisions were always

In her eyes going to be wrong.

She would always frown.

Today

I realized

My boyfriend would lie

and shouldn't be trusted.

He didn't believe in me

And for a second, I kind of felt

Stupid.

Today

I saw colors,

That were usually black and grey.

I understood what hardening my heart meant

I hated it, I hated it.

Love was meant for people who needed it

But me, I need something else

Completely.

Today

I have a plan.

That i must see through

Today I must

rise above the ashes

and shine my light.

Show that i am not

A failure, someone who gives up.

Today

I saw the Truth

And the Truth saw me.

He handed me an honesty pill

Tasted like bitterness,

But still i swallowed it.

Today I breathe again

Knowing Tomorrow,

I am one step closer to

Flying.

Today

My pen has run out of ink

My paper wet with salty tears

My courage snuck back in it's cave

My Fear telling me to behave

Be Calm, Talk Straight, Listen and Obey

Life has a plan

He always follows through.

Imperfect and that's okay

One day, I'll find the strength

Build an army

Conquer my fears.
