Today

and tomorrow

Today was hard.

Work is a good distraction but awfully stressful.

Conversations with friends were needed and lifted my spirits.

But as the work day ended, and the sun dipped deeper into the nether….

My thoughts became louder, questioning why once again.

Memories pop up, triggered by the most random things.

Music soothes my restless heart.

Yet my soul cries out with stifled sobs as the silence and ignored messages grows in time.

There’s this constant sadness that sits just beneath the surface. One carefully hidden by a facade of a strong and happy person.

But even the strongest ones need a break and when we stumble it’s a hard fall. Usually one, with no one to catch us.

Time and distance are meant to heal but no one tells you how lonely that journey can be. Regardless of how independent and strong one might be.

One can find peace in quiet moments but it’s hard to achieve when there’s no peace in one’s heart.

Missing you is starting to be a routine.

It made today hard.

Maybe, just maybe, tomorrow will be better.
