To You My Friend

For S.S.

By Jay WilsonPublished 8 years ago 1 min read
I promised to eat an OhHenry at your funeral. I hope this is good enough.

Dear friend

It has been so long

Without you here

You’re really gone

Your stellar hugs

And laugh so loud

You’d smile and say

I’m so proud

You made me feel

So happy to be

Bright and confident

Silly old me

I didn’t think

I’d miss you this much

I miss your smile

And gentle touch

So my friend

I want you to know

What I should have said

Before you go

It feels to late

To change me now

To rewind to then

Before the date

Eating Thai food

And getting lost

You’re beautiful mood

Bringing me up

One late night so dark

We watched a moth

Attacking the light

It wasn’t even a funny sight

But we laughed so hard

Until we cried

Little did I know

What was in the cards

We sat on the beach

As the sun slowly set

I listened to you

As you continued to teach

Love yourself

You said to me

Be who you are

Whoever that is to be

I wish you were here

To give me wisdom

But I know deep inside

You are so near

So my dear friend

I love you and miss you

And although you are gone

This is not the end

sad poetry
