To the moon

And back

By David lakerPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Dearest Moon,

Are you out of your blue yet?

Twice in a month,

It’s only every two to three years,

You got this,

Let me wipe those tears,

I’m here.

And I’m not going anywhere,

Anytime soon,

I guess I just wanted to say I care,

And well,

You matter to me Moon.

Without you I wouldn’t wonder when,

I get to see you again.

Every crater on your surface seen,

You see it as an imperfection,

But I see beauty.

And I know you’re sad but you need to know,

People romanticize about you,

You’re on all those movies and tv shows.

It must be hard to always have the spotlight on,

But you’ll get used to it,

You make a good difference,

You belong.

I guess what I’m trying to say,

And it’s blatantly clear,

Is people avoid looking at me everyday,

But with you there’s nothing to fear.

In the glory of your reflected light,

Near midnight,

You’re the most stunning site,

Seriously!

Do you know how much interest and fun you bring to everybody?

People identify with your phase when their born,

And they surf on your tides with joy,

So can’t you see there’s nothing to mourn.

Yet somehow you still remain torn.

Let me stress how dark at night it would be,

If you didn’t shine true and free.

This is hard to articulate,

But I’m going to do my best.

And I’m sure there’s so many others that give you interest.

Okay here it goes,

I, I like you.

Actually, over you I swoon,

Alone I'm fine I guess,

But without you Moon,

I’m pretty much a mess.

I always lose track of time,

But with your phase I see you,

And I’m fine.

I know when you’re full twice in a month,

it may feel like too much,

But no mater what phase you’re in I can’t get enough.

Together we can get through this as one,

I love you moon,

Forever and always,

Sun
