To the Heavens

To love the moon

In my arms I long to hold you

And feel your glowing curves.

Tell me what it is I must do

To sate this consuming urge.

In the heavens you walk each night,

For your touch my heart has cried.

Such lovely beauty in my sight—

So cruel that I am denied.

I have tried to learn somehow

To gain what I still crave,

But I believe that right now

There’s no chance for a pompous knave.

Each night I see you up so high,

A vision for my soul.

For just one kiss, each night I sigh—

I would pay such a heavy toll.

Here on Earth I make my stand,

To watch beauty from afar.

It is not meant for mortal man

To make love to the moon and stars.
