To Smother a Flame

Know Your Aim

By Heather KasparPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Comparison, agony, right is right.

Ego & pride tell us it’s worth the fight.

Where has it gotten anyone?

So many relationships over and done.

What must we experience to truly see,

That the flame must go out to be able to breathe?

Judgement, miscommunication, shame, & deceit.

Can hang over our heads or we can release at our feet.

A persistent journey to our best selves,

Will lead us to release and not overwhelm.

No matter the motive, love is the cost.

Hold onto your pride, to find love lost.

Release being right,

And birth honesty & trust in your loved ones sight.

Love is the cost of being vain.

Vanity betters, humility reigns.

Ego and pride are flames that burn bright.

They continually fuel one another creating a fiery light.

Will you let it rage or learn how to smother a flame?

Then start a new one, with a better aim?

Smoke will engulf,

as the energy is snuffed.

Just allow it to fade,

as you light your new way.
