To Be Young

Oh, to be young again.

Just a child playing in a puddle,

Splashing about without a care in the world.

Oh to be a child,

Making mudcakes and bothering little green lizards.

Eyes full of wonder at the sight of the moon,

And being shocked at the thought of there being other planets out there.

Oh, to be a child,

Coming up with elbaroate stories

And imaginary games,

And playing “House” all day.

Oh to be a child,

Making friends on a whim,

Not even considering that you aren’t like them.

Oh to be a child,

Innocent and pure,

Viewing things with naivety,

Unknowing that the Earth is full of sadness.
