To Be a Girl

by Katarina Tyler

By Katarina TylerPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

to sleep in delicate lace pieces

to place special things in intricate china boxes

to carefully craft the lines of my silhouette

and lean and suck and strut

to pulse and move inside the divine

to breathe as muse and as god

to garnish with sweet clove

and bake warm and dry

to orchestrate symphonies

to leave wet cinnamon kisses

to warm the cheeks of your lover

of your father and your mother

to dance with silk ribbons

to skate with thin blades

to garden inside your stomach

and eat at the table with knife and fork

- to be a girl
