Tiny Postcards Of Truth

Subtle Surrenders

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 6 months ago Updated 6 months ago 1 min read

Oh the tales they will tell

the tiny postcards of truth

The images they will sell

as they talk about you

**

The subtle surrenders

that time washes away

When no one remembers

and rarely speaks her name

**

The myth and the legend

that simply faded away

Time and time again

how they'll replay that day

**

The folklore and stories

that small glimmer will flame

Like a novel, in series

they will name drop your name

**

Disappeared like a whisper

on the breeze, out to sea

To a place that was simpler

like a thought, through the trees

**

With no explanation or fuss

she simply vanished from sight

No one knew what it was

she slipped away into the night

**

There were no signs or warnings

she left what she had behind

And they relive it each morning

even as her memory fades

**

For when her name is spoken

pieces of her still remain

Many have tried to repeat it

and make their own get away

**

But it takes true commitment

to dissolve into the fray

To find true contentment

where lost memories decay
