Tiny Fascinations

and other nonsense at about midnight

By Shirley BelkPublished 2 months ago 1 min read
from Pinterest.com Jk Rowling quote about magic

As far back as I can remember, I have held fascinations. Somehow, those magical illusions have just "stuck there" like unwanted in-laws. My mind just can't seem to let them loose.

Mermaids for example. Amazing, mysterious, mystical creatures that don't seem to quite belong to (or in) the two worlds of which they can be "found."

Fairies. They would also fit in to a space that needed to be discovered by only the purest of hearts.

Musical notes. You know, the kind that bounce around outside of your head and make rhythmic movements in bold, unapologetic strokes.

Dew drops...upside down rain but very shy.

Peach color. Not orange and not pink. Soft, warm, inviting.

Puppy breath. Kind of stinky but not. Maybe I should smell once more to see if I like it before final judgment.

Tell me, please. Do you also share in fascinations?

Such wonderful fascinations and so well put. I too have fascinations, with the little bits of magic you mention. I have written about mermaids and sometimes write about mystical powers. I like little things in nature like mushrooms, moss and lichens. And when I see a ring of toadstools I always think of the fairies that undoubtedly visit when no people are about. Perhaps I will catch them one day up to their tricks. Wonderful inspiring piece and thanks for sharing.

This is such a charming list of fascinations! I’ve always been fascinated by crumpets, they’re not bread, they’re not pancakes… what are they?

  • I do have a lot of fascinating but suddenly, I can't seem to recall any of them, lol.

This was a joy to read and I felt less strange for my overactive brain constantly has me wondering pondering and fascinated. Well wrought, Shirley
