how to bend light and not have it affect your credit rating + other hair raising stories!

if you get this message

please don't tell a soul

your discretion in this matter is a must

as yours is a crucial role

i sent you this missive

approximately three days from now

concern yourself with only the when and why

and i will attempt to explain the how

but how do i explain the fraying ends of sanity

in a way that i’d like ?

it was akin to an LSD moment

sans Hofmann, accidental ingestion and bike

i put on a favourite record

from the one of the many

that i have been fortunate

to have heard

whilst kicking up

my share of dust

upon the surface

of this

planet

of ours

music that grapes my squildo (you had to be there - wink emoji)

if you know what i mean

(embarrassed cough)

…as soon as the needle

found

that familiar groove

i was taken back

to the many times

i’d heard it before

one by one

all at once

a little imaginative partitioning

point swipe point swipe

(i chose the opaque layering similar to my current operating system - in this case familiarity breeds content!)

sound

at the speed

of light

if you could have seen

what was in my head

you’d know

a flood of times past

and futures anew

all i had to do

was pick and play and view

each song was a thread

each thread was a strand

each strand made a web

there was too many

for them to come to me

and so i went to them

i was able to flay myself

into hundreds of thousands of tiny fibrous filaments

i stretched time across the millions pasts

i was able to reach back and touch these times

and my reach was immense and vast

i was the ripple and the pond

i was the cause and the effect

i was all that has ever been

and everything that lays beyond

i let my ears lead me

i let the instant feed me

i let the currents free me

i let the music bleed me

realising ...finally i could go back as i pleased

my thoughts turned to forward progression

my record collection was a bus pass of sorts

and i got to choose the direction

so i went to tomorrow with a sealed record i was saving

i went to next week with a mint condition box set

i went to next year with a signed by the artists limited edition

a two terabyte digital flac playlist?

let’s just say move over Ziltoid!

i stayed up and made a machine

of metal, light, sound and flesh

of laser beams, of smiles and screams

eight track tapes old records, cd's and cassettes

i accidentally made a time machine

so in light of a lack of other negating facts

i’d like to reach into my ditty bag

and whip out a coupla tracks …

Top work buddy! Some great music there too. I love the violin, plus I had not heard eye in the sky for years.. didn’t even recognise it at first! ☺️👍

  • "each song was a thread each thread was a strand each strand made a web" "i let my ears lead me i let the instant feed me i let the currents free me i let the music bleed me" I especially loved these lines!

What a ride of a poem! And great music picks to boot.

you're so right. Records are much like a time machine that can take you back, even if only in a memory. The Golden Oldies .... Your story made me remember much more. Thank you for sharing.

  • Now this is a night I would have loved to be in on! I have passed my O'Leary stage but my state of mind remains flexible. Loved taking this ride with you!
