Since You Passed Away (For My Best Friend, Julie)

My memories are frozen in ice,

My heart doesn't beat anymore,

My body is always cold,

It snows day and night inside my

head,

Tears fall,

Like icicles, they stick to my face,

There is no sunshine or warmth,

Daytime is always dark,

There is no light on my face,

And there is no bright smile,

Outside, people think it's warm,

But all I see is,

Sleet, rain, and snow,

White clouds blanket the sky,

Fighting the dark clouds that try to

dominate them,

Your house is still on that same road,

But my eyes don't see new life living

there,

They see us together, laughing, singing,

crying, joking and arguing,

Time has moved forward for everyone else,

But for me;

Time has been frozen,

Forever back in 1997,

Since you passed away.

Hey Carol, Julie wans the ice to thaw and you forever be laughing, even from afar. Loss is like that though, it takes time to heal. Great poem...let go and live again.
