πŸ–€

purgatory

we like to call it

not so lovingly

the bated breath

between

our adventure

one we did not ask for

-in, out, in, out-

don't stop breathing

πŸ–€

now home

is just my person

and my days go by here

like i'm a stranger

without purpose

πŸ–€

even those

good intentions

were impossible

πŸ–€

once i was hard

and my skin

full of cells

screaming

to be cleaved apart

then you came

an expert seamstress

stitching me back together

πŸ–€

the waiting now

threatening to split me apart again

the love in my heart

is exponential

and impatient

and the wait

only worth

the end

πŸ–€

so grey sky

empty heart

temporary

and painful

but temporary

this is not forever

🀍

But it feels like forever –

Days and nights shielded

From the sunlight.

And the empty void of

Where my heart once was.

Thumps like a metronome.

Marking time.

Waiting.

Suspended on ropes

We did not tie.

No

No. It is not forever –

I will it to be so.

For time to

Stop its

Cruel

Charade.

I look down at my hand –

More often than not

Just to feel you

-the smooth wood

Of you wrapped

Like love

Around my finger

Our forever –

The only forever I

Will truly

Ever know.

One day soon

We will smile

Rose tinted and dewy eyed –

Safe.

Knowing we made it through

The darkest of days

Renewed

And unbroken –

Together.

Ready for

Eternity.

Poignant - as Michelle said. You have such a gift and power for words, friend. This is beautiful and cutting, honest and brutal too! Loved it.

    Love builds, then shatters. Poignant.
