A poem on Time

Time!

Regulator of man

Superior to man’s choices

Man comes, you’re there

Man goes, you stay

We make big plans

We set high goals

But you remind us

“you’re just another passerby

for you too shall pass”.

For how long can one run?

From the pain and hurt he has caused?

Give it time and justice will be done

Give it time and karma will return.

Or how long can one live

To continue to evade death

Give him time and he’ll pay his debt

One moment he lives

The next he’s beneath the earth.

It’s only a matter of time

For what one sows, he reaps

And every secret will be revealed.

You have no alternative

Only deadlines

We plead for just a second

You whisper, ‘Never!’

As you tick away, ignoring our cries.

If only you’d listen

Then we’d strike out a lot of things

On our bucket list

We would accomplish our dreams

And bring them to reality.

When shall we come to an agreement?

When shall we reason together?

We’re ever at your mercy

For we know not what the next moment brings.
