Thursdays Forever

Poem by Maggie Bulloch

A Thursday

An afternoon

Far from wind, by the sparkles

that weave themselves

through the river.

Catching silver and gold.

The sun is so generous -

daylight forever

Thursday forever

A hollow in the cotton trees

It bends it's limbs around

two towels

on the sand

soft light on the skin.

Thursday forever

Swimming

through the strong currents

to reach oyster clustered rocks

on the other side

- you by my side

My arms tire

I will never forget

this dreamy hour

golden ripples, soft light,

Freedom forever

Thursdays forever
