Three Pillows

an ode to ordinary objects

Three pillows

You sit…you wait…until I am in your embrace

Never far from my reach

You welcome me after a hard day

Surrounding me with your support

Comforting me when I am tired and spent

Cushioning the blows of a bad day

Soaking up tears shed over heartbreak

Cradling the head of a sick child

Holding me close in late night readings

Letting me scrunch you at scary movies

Always willing to host a dog or two

My Three Amigos in life

The Triple Crown of my race

The Three Musketeers to save me

And dare I say, The menage a’ trois of my dreams

Author's pup and pillows
