Three Butterflies
A yellow butterfly kissed my hand
then twirled away like it was planned
no rush, no fuss, just soft and bright
a little flame in morning light
A blue one traced the garden air
then settled lightly in my hair
it stayed a while, then flew once more
as if it knew what skies are for
The red one came when day was done
it caught the blush of setting sun
it hovered close, then chose to stay
and warmed the hush of fading day
Three butterflies, no need for more
they brought a peace I won’t ignore
no diamonds, crowns or silver strings
just love wrapped up in quiet wings
And as they danced, I watched them go
with nowhere else I had to show
they didn’t speak, they didn’t try
just left a smile and passed me by
