Those Promises

At Rest

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

Before you go tomorrow

Promise you won’t turn around

Before the pain and sorrow

Leaves me broken on the ground

Before you say goodnight

Remember when I woke up next to you

When you promised you were mine

And I promised myself too

Before the clock strikes midnight

And the shadows roam the halls

Before we surrender to the fight

And those old memories start to call

Before you shut the door

That never opens up again

To never hold you in my arms

Like water colors in the rain

For the sake of all those moments

Those lost promises we made

I will never understand

How you just threw it all away

I know the feelnig but you express it so well: To never hold you in my arms Like water colors in the rain. I can visualize a picture just melting away as the raindrops hit it.
