The day so bright and warm is like a dream
Green grass and trees and flowers all aglow
This joyful day just isn’t what it seems.
When eyes both cry and endless tissues blow.
***
My sweaty skin is met by gentle breeze
A boon so sweet I should feel so thankful
But all it does is make me want to sneeze
My summer days will never feel quite whole.
***
I feel like I am broken in some way.
I can’t enjoy a picnic or a pool
I can’t enjoy a blissful summer day.
I’m telling you, allergies are not cool.
***
And so I guess I’ll take another pill
And sleep until the pollen all goes still.
