Thirty

Turning 30

By Kay StoreyPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
Thirty

A number I used to fear

In my younger years

But now that I’m here

I can only shed happy tears

At all of the memories

I hold so dear

The good,

The bad,

The even worse,

To the absolute best

That I never felt were deserved

While mistakes were made,

And prices were paid

I truly thought

I would see an early grave

From my own hand or theirs

I didn’t seem to care

As long as my troubles

were staved away for another day

But when I finally decided to dare

Live a life

to be proud of

A life full of

self love

A life far far above

any I could have ever imagined up

A life I once dreamed of

named “someday”

Is now here to stay

allowing me to continue finding my way

Alongside all of those who chose to stay

By my side,

Hand in hand

Until we’re all returned back to the land
