Things You Can't Say Out Loud
*Besides A Whisper
Are there words you can not say?
It seems we say them anyway
Cruel and crass, a venomous poison
A toxic gas, followed with verbal spasm
A shot to the heart, without any bullets
About as black as an iron to skillet
Racist remarks spewed out, as a fact
The killing kind that you cannot retract
You can say it's not fair and you have your rights
Whatever you need to sleep well at night
But sticks and stones can't match the scars
The way that a wicked word thrown, can mark
Nothing nice to say? Well then, shut your pie hole
Let's go back to the days when we showed some self control
The things I can't say, "you should be ashamed of yourself"
No longer holds shame or care for anyone else
We've become a village full of rude, selfish idiots
Where what counts as entertainment is grossly insidious
Are there words you cannot say today?
I wish we could turn down the hatred
And if you don't have something nice to say....
Then, please evoke the right to remain silent
