They elected a new president

despite the clear danger he would represent

he brought with him promises of riches to be had

to partake in the spoils, they were oh too glad

a return to the ideals they had feared they had lost

those that would suffer could cover the cost

Yet the moment in office he came with a hammer

breaking anything that didn’t offer him glitch and the glamour

leaving a great deal of destruction to follow his wake

and those at his heel did so quickly partake

they said nothing as he rampaged and snarled and sneered

those that they opposed would quack in their fear

cause it wasn’t their street that he was knocking down

he was removing the trash, saving their town

They applauded and cheered as he drove out the masses

they looked on with great joy through rose colored glasses

removing all that they feared, no matter how much did suffer

not knowing those affected were just a buffer

Still it wasn’t their lives that were being affected

he was fixing the country, a course to be corrected

and someone so different than them truly did not matter

they tossed their beers and rejoined in their chatter

Still, he came for them in the end,

when all the goats were slaughtered, the next wave would begin

this isn’t what we wanted, they screamed, and they hallowed,

but the leopard did not listen as they started to devour

and those before them who they mocked, and they taunted

their graves they would join; a land now haunted

They gave him great power, to do as he pleased

and with that power he destroyed them with ease

those who opposed were squashed without hesitance

when he made sure they could never elect a new president
