There's a Rumble in the Jungle

Poetry for potential paleontologists

One upon a time, in a world long ago,

A world that us humans didn’t really know,

Lived creatures ginormous, fierce, and free,

T'was the time of the mighty; land, air and sea.

Mr Tyrannosaurus rex, well, he was King of the land,

With jaws like scissors, his teeth were his brand.

Stomping through forests, his feet caused a quake,

Though his tiny arms prevented any T-rex handshakes.

Mr Brontosaurus, why, he was a gentle leaf-eater,

His neck stretched out long - at least a few metres.

He stood like a tower, so elegant, so tall,

But even one little sneeze meant a shower for all.

Mr Stegosaurus, we know, had spiky plates on his back,

A quick flick of his tail gave out a good whack.

But brain like a walnut, he prob-lee wasn’t too smart,

Perhaps he was kind and had a really big heart?

Mr Velociraptor, oh, he was swift, he was lean,

But his beady eyes were always so sharp, and so mean.

Loyal to his pack, though he was small, he had pace,

You’d want him on your team in any running race.

Dinos: friends or foes? I’m not sure we can say,

But forever in our stories, they'll continue to stay.

I'd not want to meet one though, I know that for sure,

As I quite like my limbs - and they're best uninjured!
