There is a woman in the window;

Lonely spider in her web,

She howls every time the wind blows

And on the glass she bangs her head.

She sits and watches, hungry,

She waits for something lovely.

/

There is a woman in the window,

All day long, she’s settled there,

To watch us scurry far below;

She tries to trap me in her snare.

I hurtle past her door,

Lest she comes and asks for more.

/

There is a woman in the window—

I avoid her at all costs—

When I can, I take the side road,

Even if it gets me lost.

I yield to this urge to flee;

The trapped, mad, woman; she is me.

    This is very well done. We have so many shades in us that we often do not want to see.
