There Aren't as Many Stars

a poem

there aren’t as many stars

here anymore

and I can’t help

but to wonder

every so often

if its not my fault

the glimmering

and shining simmers down

campfire embers

sputtering

no more blazing bright

and my eyes can’t help

but fight to

try and see the more

more than what

little light is being offered

straining to catch

a glimpse of

what was there before

I wish

that there was more

to wish on

my chances of

dreams coming true

memories becoming

less blue

would soar and those stars would bring

the light and all it offers
