A poem of the senses

Sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell,

The five senses that we know so well.

They help us experience the world around,

And make our lives so much more profound.

Sight allows us to see the colors of the sky,

The beauty of the stars and the moon up high.

We can see the faces of those we love,

And the wonders of nature from above.

Hearing lets us listen to the sounds of life,

The music of the world and the strife.

We can hear the laughter of children at play,

And the wind as it rustles the leaves in its way.

Touch gives us the sensation of the world,

The feel of the sand and the warmth of the sun unfurled.

We can feel the softness of a newborn's skin,

And the roughness of bark as we take it in.

Taste allows us to savor the flavors of food,

The sweetness of candy and the bitterness of brew.

We can taste the saltiness of the sea,

And the spiciness of chili that makes us feel free.

Smell brings us the aromas of the earth,

The scent of flowers and the freshness of birth.

We can smell the rain as it falls to the ground,

And the aroma of coffee that makes our hearts pound.

Sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell,

The five senses that we know so well.

They help us experience the world around,

And make our lives so much more profound.
