The World Is Ending But It's Like Whatever

This poem is so like whatever.

The world is ending but it’s like whatever.

People are like losing their rights,

But you know it’s like whatever!

Like death keeps rising,

And minds keep denying,

And the world’s on fire but it’s totally like whatever.

Whatever you may think

Truth remains solid.

Like facts outweigh attacks;

Psychological violence.

And so the earth is decaying,

Cost of living is inflating,

And we’re all sat and waiting

For the end of the world.

But it’s horrifically scary

And scary things are icky,

So now say it with me:

The world is ending but it’s like whatever!

“Cause of course I can’t do anything”

Says the woman with four kids,

And, “our hands are tied!” says the government,

And surely no one could combat such a crisis,

And war may break out so what’s the use of fighting?

Cause we’d all sooner shift the blame

Than take accountability,

And we’d sooner shoulder depression

Than take on responsibility,

And we all rather argue

Than seek common ground,

And think things will fix themselves

With us never making a sound.

So of course the world’s in peril,

And of course the ship is sinking.

Of course the world is ending,

And of course we’re all thinking.

“Well I can’t be bothered”

And, “everyone for themselves”

And, “the future is coming

regardless of how I could help”

So we acknowledge the world ending

But it’s like “whatever”

Cause it’s always been ending,

And things never get better.

So the world is ending and it’s like whatever...

But maybe it could be good,

Maybe it could be better.

Maybe the world is ending

But how about instead,

We do whatever it takes,

And whatever we can.
