The Woman You Changed

The battle beneath the skin

By Desert QueenPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

So much left to say

Yet I'm stuck in my own lane

While you rule your side of the world

My soul weeps at your every word

My eyes enraptured by your gaze turns cold during our untimely embrace

eyes that were once the stars envy decay before my eyes

a smile that had seemed like a volcanic eruption with its terrifying beauty no longer took my breathe as I saw what came after the eruption

the iron will I once sought no longer made my heart flutter

the soul I thought you had given life to changed with the change in the man I had once held oh so dearly

the loss that had once cut me to the depths of my being ignited my fire

the arms I once craved no longer held the same feeling of safety

safe and sound without your burning energy surrounding me

scorching the ground beneath my feet on my own

I no longer feared the battlefield called life

walking through the fires and awaiting the oncoming bullet-holes where your once precious words turned into my own personal nightmare

The skin you had once protected with your very being began to mar due to your new behaviour

the only scars I will regret id not letting you leave more of them before the once precious woman you loved and protected realized she could protect herself.

heartbreak
