I ran into someone who used to know me

The reflection of a girl in their eyes

She was awakened and wondered if a friendship was possible

And found she was screaming into a void, leaving me to hold the pieces

You see, she is weaker than I

Wanting to be accepted

Yet she doesn’t realize how little power others should have

Without others in my orbit, I would still be me

And she is me, only sadder

She is me, only more lost

I tuck her in and kiss her to sleep

A girl I used to know

May she never again lay eyes on a world that asked her to disappear

But one made for me

Gratitude
