We were set loose from an idea of what home meant long before we gained a sense of self. We became who we are because we left. We are defined by the leaving. Not by the staying. We are defined from that we were absent from.
We think that there is more to explore. We are still willing to explore. We’ve been disappointed and enthralled. We’ve had incredible, rich good experiences and incredible, rich not good experiences. But how much longer are we going to keep searching?
It was a happy place. We loved it. Yes, we cried. But we’ll always have good things to say about that place. It was such a rich, eye-opening experience to what it means to be human, have friends. I don’t think there is anything bad to searching, but how much longer will we be at this?
We didn’t’ form a sense of self before we left. We formed this idea that the world is a lot more open than you think it is. The world broke open when we decided to go back. It was nice, and it was not nice. But now there is creativity and exploration, friendship and belonging.
