The Weight of my Love

A short heart wrenching poem.

I loved you like the skies,

But you grumbled it was too big,

I loved you like the oceans,

But you said it was too deep,

I loved you like the light

But you said it reached everywhere,

So I loved you like darkness,

But you said you didn't care.

You said my love was too much, too little, too giving, too demanding,

Something like an overwhelming affair.

So I shrunk my love and hid away,

Hoping to find the perfect way,

To reach your heart and make my space,

I lost myself in this pointless race.

I became a shadow of who I was,

Forgetting my pain and blurring my scars,

Hoping that you would look my way,

And realize I was the one to stay,

But you were nothing if not an uncaring fool,

As you let me drown in my sorrowful doom.
