The Weapon

Not a game

I’m not much good for hunting deer.

To shoot a man is my main aim.

Let’s make one thing clear,

I am military surplus, not for a game.

Most people who own me,

are citizens that with the law comply.

But yet in the land of the free,

by me some innocents do die.

If someone’s mind has lost its way,

then me, they should not have.

Yet, there are those who say,

it is I that am bad.

It takes a person grim of heart,

to pull my trigger and kill.

That’s a sin on their part.

It is their own ill will.

If me you were to ban,

would mass killing cease?

This might be a thought grand,

but it would bring little peace.

A troubled mind needs loving care,

but banning me is not the cure.

Still there are those who say beware,

I am too easy to procure.
