The Way She Survives

How do I miss someone I just met?

She sat down and smiled. I couldn't remember time being present. She commanded the space in between us and I had no guard to offer my heart.

How?

When She didn't need saving, she built her own peace and grew her own garden to show the world how she rebuilt herself inspite of her grievances.

How?

When the world around her told her who to be despite the way she fell silent in the middle of conversations. How did she bear the delightful intensity of its distaste?

How I ask again and perhaps in its finality,

She believed in love? Or did she adjourn to accept her suffering in fate.

I will continue to write about you. I'll risk someone loving you three hundred years from now. Let history take its course.
