The Voice That Never Leaves

I can’t silence my head away from it

The Voice That Never Leaves

A path that keeps repeating what I knew,

It winds through shadows where my voice remains,

The past returns with echoes I pursue.

I try to leave the memories behind too,

Yet still they pull me back through hidden lanes,

A path that keeps repeating what I knew.

Regret becomes a thread I can’t undo,

A silent weight that whispers through my veins,

The past returns with echoes I pursue.

I walk the nights though nothing feels like new,

The world around me hums with quiet pains,

A path that keeps repeating what I knew.

Desire lingers, shaping what I do,

It binds my steps and tugs at all my chains,

The past returns with echoes I pursue.

I raise my voice, though trembling, faint, and true,

Still haunted by the lessons life ordains,

A path that keeps repeating what I knew,

The past returns with echoes I pursue.

Good luck in the challenge, Miss Marie. This is a poem that will make one look at oneself more closely.

This is filled with melancholy and love. It is a gorgeous villanelle, Marie. Good luck on the challenge!

Woah, Marie As someone who is learning to break the pattern of cyclical thoughts and dead-end actions I recognized myself in every line. A masterfully completed poem and a villanelle at that! Thank you for sharing your talent
