The Visit
Marcus Perkins
Somewhere far away from this place
Is a woman and man who are set in their ways
As a man walks up the roadway, the husband walks away
His chores are calling and he doesn’t see the stranger approaching.
With the departure of him the stranger comes knocking
On the door of the house, the woman comes running
For she isn’t expecting company.
Her heart races thinking of her husband,
Did something happen has he been hurt again?
Instead of the bad news that she was expecting
A greeting from the man happens
That she found rather charming.
His appearance is nothing
That seems alarming
His face is that of a
Proper gentleman.
“Hello there, madam. Ive been traveling,
Looking for work of any kind of sorts.
I have things to do up the road a ways,
But first, do you have anything today
That needs cleaned up, fixed, or done
That I could be of service for, madam?”
The woman looked stunned,
His voice is sophisticated and smooth
Like that of her pa from years ago.
“No, my husband keeps up with work,
He has been gone just doing chores.
When he gets back he will do the up-keeping
I haven’t a thing for you to do today.”
His face looks saddened and he turns away from her
A tear brings his left eye to a shine.
“You see I had hoped for things to be different,
I just wanted to have a chance to know you.
Your beauty is told in stories of old,
Your heart is as pure as gold.
With yellow hair bright as corn,
Blue eyes like that of the lord.
Will you give me a chance to be yours?
I can give you more than just a farm.”
She takes a step back, away from the charm
Her anger is squashed by his kind words.
She should send him away
But she couldn’t bring herself to say
What was needed this day.
“You are a traveler, we own land
How can you give me more than I have?
You are a cowardly man
Who waits for my husband to leave
Before he approaches me this way,
But I must say that your proposal is tempting
Even though it’s laced with the devils intent.”
The smile returns to the strangers lips
He licks them and takes a step on the bricks
Towards the house and the beauty inside
She doesn’t step away, instead, she moves to the side.
His body brushes against her large bust
Her hands touch his lump
Their lips lock as the door shuts
Their encounter is ferocious and fast
Leaving nothing unexplored in its path.
She sends him away with no monetary gain
But he is happy and she is the same.
Her husband returns with chores complete,
His smile is large as she greets him in haste.
The life of the two return to the same
Way it has been since they were eighteen.
