The Urban Unspoken
"Things You Can't Say Out Loud"
Words unspoken have presence,
The weight of unspent potential.
Brick by brick they build
Developing whole worlds
Soliloquies forming the scaffolding
To skyscrapers of secrets
That throws silhouettes on the silence.
The other half of half-truths cut pathways
Through gardens of omission
Decorated with sculptures carved from
White lies and tight-lipped smiles
That beg to say more.
We live between these worlds
An overlay of the unsaid
In contrast with the rest
Until they bleed together
And then they trip us up.
I love you, I hate you, I wish…
Oh shit did I say that out loud?
Cracks in the foundation
We forget the line between
We choke on the mortar of memories
Until we are unsure what whispers we kept
And what ones escaped without notice.
Things screamed inside minds
Until a sort of certainly settles
That surely they heard it all anyway?

Wow, wow, wow, man you just kill it with your diction. The imagery alone is stunning. I just gotta highlight my favorite lines: "Soliloquies forming the scaffolding To skyscrapers of secrets That throws silhouettes on the silence." "Soliloquies forming the scaffolding"?? Especially in the context of this challenge is so beautiful! And it gives imagery too of the bones of a structure made out of things said out loud when we are alone...gah, so good! And then: "We choke on the mortar of memories Until we are unsure what whispers we kept And what ones escaped without notice." "We choke on the mortar of memories", I think my mouth dropped open. xD I LOVE this imagery and this theme you built throughout. Seriously amazing work on this one!
This poem felt and sounded like the image you used , some framework that is normally hidden from view but has to be there
