The Unwritten

Whispers of the Forgotten, Carved in Time

By Jason “Jay” BenskinPublished 11 months ago Updated 11 months ago 1 min read

Beneath the weight of time untold,

where silent voices turn to gold,

a whisper lingers in the dust,

a name uncarved, a fate unjust.

-

The hands that built, the minds that dreamed,

the lives unseen, the songs ungleamed,

they echo loud in hollow halls,

their stories etched in vanished walls.

-

The river bends, the seasons wane,

the earth forgets, yet souls remain.

Not in stone, nor fleeting lore,

but in the hush where echoes soar.

-

A poet’s breath, a painter’s shade,

a love once lost, yet never fades.

The unheard heart still beats, still burns,

a tale unwritten—yet returns.

That entire first verse is exceptional. But the last line is the topper. Unknown, what is the story, loved, lost, mourned?

omg, this is so amazing. made me think of my great aunt whom I never got to know but always wished I had. Her name was Elizabeth Waters. She lived and died in Liverpool and from what I understand, she's somewhere in an unmarked grave. So sad. I really wish I could find where she's resting. GREAT poem to help me travel through my memory.
