They told me I was without worth,

They said I had been born without a spine,

For their approval, I’d have crawled to the ends of the earth,

If only to watch that collapse with time.

I was led to believe that I was unworthy of love,

I had to learn to be tough,

I asked someone to help me from above,

I thought, wasn’t I enough?

Yet through my wife and within,

We have made a loving family of our own,

I can look toward the future with a grin,

And reap what I have sown.

I know I am worthy of love and I am enough,

Because I have called the universe’s bluff.
