The Unbleaching

A rainbow wouldn't be beautiful without the diversity of its colours

You breathe into me

A chest full of fresh perspective

The joy of life reflected

Natural, unassuming and perfect in its purity –

Each petal, leaf, pair of eyes and tie dye skies

We forget your presence

in a life designed to numb us into obsolescence

Try as we might we wage a war

Against the homoginization of our culture –

Our ideas

Our dreams

They come in suits to bleach us all into cookie cutter copies

Shades of white

An endless sea of sameness

As if the identities they strategized for us will make us happy

They try to trick us in exchange for our money, ideas and dignity

When the truth is colour

Every single magnificent shade

The bounty our planet provided for us to enjoy for free –

The bold

The bright

The dull

The dark

And the light.

A rainbow wouldn't be beautiful without the diversity of its colours

Let us breathe in the pigments

And sigh out our expression

A 21st century battle cry

To revolt against the bleaching
