The Uk Miners' Strike of 1974❤️

In Seventy-Four, the chill winds blew,

A strike began, strong and true.

Coal miners gathered, their voices the key,

United they stood, for fairness, you see.

With banners raised high, they marched side by side,

A fight for their rights, they wouldn’t hide.

For years they had labored, through darkness and sweat,

Now was the time to demand what they’d met.

Families at home, they felt the weight,

Worrying about bills, their future at stake.

Mothers kept kitchens warm with care,

While fathers stood firm in the cold winter air.

Children would listen to stories of pride,

Of courage and strength, where hope would abide.

As trains stayed silent and pits went dark,

Their hearts beat louder, igniting a spark.

Days turned to weeks, with no end in sight,

Yet the miners held strong, determined to fight.

For dignity’s sake, for fairness in pay,

In every small town, they joined the call.

Neighbors gathered, sharing the load,

With kindness and comfort, they lightened the road.

They’d pass around meals, support one another,

In the face of hardship, they were like brothers.

Finally, a deal, the news came to call,

The miners emerged, standing proud, standing tall.

With hard-earned respect, they had made their mark,

A testament to unity, igniting a spark.

So let’s remember those brave days gone by,

The miners and families who reached for the sky.

In the heart of their struggle, they found a way,

To fight for their future, to seize a new day.

In the echoes of history, their legacy stays,

A story of hope and of better days.

For in every struggle, they forged a path bright,

A reminder that together, we can stand up and fight.

Great testament to standing up for the courage of your convictions and to your father. Great job.

What a great way to remember a dad and a historical event as well. I kind of remember hearing about this on the news back then, but I was only in 4th grade and probably doing my homework. Good job.
