The UK Heat Wave of 1975

I will never forget it. Hot Hot Hot 🥵

The UK Heat Wave of 1975

A sun unbound, relentless, bright,

Bathed the land in endless light.

Fields cracked, their thirst unmet,

A summer none would soon forget.

Gardens wilted, rivers low,

Pavements shimmered in their glow.

From city streets to countryside,

The heat refused to fade or hide.

Ice cream vans, their jingles sweet,

Became the anthem of the heat.

Beach-bound crowds, a sea of cheer,

The hottest days in many a year.

Fans turn on cooling sleepless nights,

Dreams dissolved in sweltering fights.

The summer of ’75 burned deep,

A memory the years still keep.

seem to remember ( I was 33 in 1975) a few summers and a few winter that would now get called extreme-- but in those days climate change was not big money earner for anyone
