The Tribe

What are we now?

I am part of a tribe

...Of people.

We all are.

The greatest team that ever lived.

Except…

Are we still a team?

Because it doesn’t feel that way.

>>

It’s like someone put an ‘I’ in team

And now it’s all “me,” “me,” “me.”

>>

But what about me?

How do I succeed without my team?

>>

Once, you stood behind me.

Raised me on your shoulders,

Offered me a hand when I needed it most.

Now, you block my path.

Charge me admission.

>>

But what am I without my tribe?

Lost.

Because I have no role to play.

No purpose to share.

>>

And a tribe without purpose…

Is a herd spooked by its own shadow.

>>

We run in all directions,

And leave ourselves behind.

>>

Loneliness is on the rise…

And we wonder why.

>>

Singular mindsets

And selfish egos,

Rob us all of our community.

>>

Our leaders no longer lead,

They leave us all behind.

Ignore our cries

And hide behind their lies.

>>

They spend our money,

And take our homes.

Because they need more.

No matter the cost.

Not one house but three,

And a boat the size of four.

>>

But us...?

>>

We need our tribe back.

>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<

The world is an uncertain place these days, with greed and self-righteousness destroying our communities. But we are still a tribe, with or without those in charge. Hate is not a currency, despite what the global tech giants want you to believe.

So true, greed and self-righteous are really destroying our communities. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Loved your poem!

  • Great words to remind us that we are all one people on this planet, thankyou for sharing xx
