The thought was there

There and gone in a flash

The sight of the white paper stifles

blank space and blank mind

There and gone in a flash

if only the idea would come back

blank space and blank mind

I can feel it lick at the edges

if only the idea would come back

almost a vague suggestion

I can feel it lick at the edges

like a carrot on a string

almost a vague suggestion

I feel what I want to write

like a carrot on a string

almost within my grasp

I feel what I want to write

it just needs to take shape

almost within my grasp

the white of the page taunts

it just needs to take shape

I feel the need to create

the white of the page taunts

to write the night away

I feel the need to create

willing my mind to find the words

to write the night away

The thought was there
