The Tapestry of Holiday Light
Threads of Joy: Weaving Memories in Holiday Light

Soft The air is humming, a crisp caress,
Winter's breath upon the place.
A glow through frosted glass and panes
It comes from hearts, love and laughter reigns.
Golden bedecked in branches, green,
The secrets of seasons of old age are gleaned.
Adorned on each branch a tale is told.
Of moments dear to our remembrance to hold.
The streets wear white coats like a festive sight,
Snowflakes dance beneath the velvet night.
And as they waltz there, carolers sing,
Carried on the wings of angels.
The kitchen sings a fragrant song,
Cinnamon, cloves, and pine.
Hands work, shape, knead, stir
As hearts are warmed by winter's cure.
Children giggle with amazed eyes,
Ride by a tree that's tall,
Aglow, a tree of light aglow,
Stockings hang, each stitch a thread,
Of dreams and love from days long fled.
The chair of the grandfather, strong,
Keeps stories in an endless song.
He tells of winters long ago,
When the stars seemed bright, the snow was so vast.
The clock strikes twelve. The world is still there,
A moment stood by winter's hand.
A silence falls, both deep and still,
As earth and stars in slumber steep.
Yet where the shadows stood of old
A light springs forth, young and of gold,
And night has turned to day.
By the warm light that kinship says.
Traditions move hand in hand
Through country miles of remembered land;
The join'd caress of what has been,
And now, in those best lines of dawn.
Outside, the winds may writhe and shriek,
But here, within, no heart is frail.
For holiday gifts, beyond the cheer,
It is finding those we hold most dear.
So let the bells sing sweet and clear,
And hearts are full, this time of year.
For in the tapestry, bright and vast,
The holidays weave threads that last.
