The Tale of Daylight and Nightfall

a fable of a lunatic

The tale of daylight and nightfall is like no other.

Humans have a scientific reasoning behind the matter,

Except nothing natural created such a feature.

***

The sky is blue by day, the sky is black by night,

All because two mythical species decided to stop their fight.

Lives were lost to correct the wrongs, so

Everyone remembers them in their drinking songs.

***

Only the fairies of darkness and the goblins of light know what’s truly happened.

Friends of friends and all in-between, all of you better strap in.

***

During a time where the sun always beat down upon the Earth,

All of the sky was seen as a solid white.

Year after year, it remained this way, unchanging,

Lasting until the final battle between the fairies and goblins.

In this time of eternal sunlight,

Goblins were beings of goodness while the fairies were the opposite.

Hell on Earth was created because of them.

Thousands and thousands of years before a settlement was made.

***

And when things finally took that turn,

No one knew for certain as to why they changed their minds.

Destiny always has its way of throwing you a curveball.

***

Night was created for the fairies of darkness, out of hope they’d behave.

Internal and external conflict was then taken to the grave.

Goblins used their magic to create the sun and moon cycle,

Happiness finally arrived in the world as the skies turned blue in the day and turned black during the night.

The moon would rise in the darkness, the sun would rise in the light,

Falling stars would mark the skies as they’d celebrate in the moonlight.

All the colors of the rainbow join the skies at sunset,

Light and dark creatures alike would gather, and begin to dance at moonset.

Literal or fable, you may never know; delirium or lucidity, my mind was gone a long time ago.
